The famous founder of the "reformed" Gelukpa school of Buddhism is seen central here flanked by his disciples Kedrup and Gyaltsap. Above we see lamas and Indian sages who are in the lineage of teachings received by Tsongkapa. Seated below Tsongkapa is a Gelugpa lama who is probably contemporaneous with the painting. This lama is surrounded by students and in the left corner is the proctector 6 armed Mahakala; in the right corner is the avowed protector Yama Dharmaraja.
